The Arizona Law Diversity Committee works with students and faculty to plan community-building events, to strengthen cultural understanding and to sustain an environment where ideas can be discussed in a collegial and welcoming way.

Diversity Committee Events
Each year the Diversity Committee and student organizations host a variety of events that bring diverse voices to campus, create networking and community-building opportunities and foster dialogue about critical issues.

2021 April Monthly Reading Group
Professor Andy Coan and 3L DeLorean Forbes host a discussion on Fred O. Smith, Jr's "Formalism, Ferguson, and the Future of Qualified Immunity." This reading session is in support of Arizona Law’s Black Law Students Association April Coffee Conversation.
Fighting My Deportation: Perspectives from the Inside on Immigration Detention and Court Proceedings
Individuals from the Florence Immigrants' Rights Project and Mariposas sin Fronteras shared their experiences as attorneys and advocates.
Imposter Syndrome Workshop
This interactive workshop allowed attendees to reflect on their own ‘impostor moments’ and the impacts these have on psyches and career trajectories. The presentations concluded with strategies for overcoming unwelcome thoughts about not belonging.
Legal Futures: Why Diversity and Inclusion Matter
Law students and undergraduate students interested in the law were invited to interact with justices and judges. Attendees also learned about different pathways to the bench and what justice looks like from the bench. Students were welcomed by Chief Justice Scott Bales of the Arizona Supreme Court.
Well for Culture
This interactive presentation was based upon positivity and solution-based approaches to wellness featuring Well For Culture founders Chelsey Luger and Thosh Collins. This event was organized by the Arizona Law Native American Law Students Association.
2020-2021 Monthly Reading Groups
Arizona Law Faculty lead discussions in support of Arizona Law’s Black Law Students Association’s Coffee Conversations Series. Faculty participants included Xiaoqian Hu, John Swain, Barbara Atwood, Shefali Milczarek-Desai, Albertina Antognini, Diana Newmark, and Christopher Griffin.
Trans Queer Pueblo Training Series
An interactive training on anti-racism, gender, and decolonization within legal aid work led by a local migrant-led grassroots organization. This event was organized by Arizona Law’s Immigration Law Students Association.
Conversations on Allyship
A panel discussion on allyship with multiple Arizona Law affinity groups. This event seeks to create an open and honest dialogue between minority communities at Arizona Law and the students who wish to serve as allies for those communities.
