Cary Lee Cluck Joins University of Arizona Law as Assistant Dean of Admissions

Sept. 13, 2016

The University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law has hired Cary Lee Cluck as assistant dean of admissions and financial aid.

Cluck previously served in administration at the University of Mississippi School of Law for 15 years, first as assistant dean for student affairs and then as assistant dean for admissions and scholarships.

Cluck earned her JD from the University of Mississippi and is also a current Ph.D. candidate in higher education. After law school, she worked as an attorney, clerk, and recruiter.

“Cary’s experience, skills, national respect in the admissions community and success at working with faculty, staff and students at Mississippi make her an outstanding choice to lead our admissions team,” says Dean Marc Miller.

Cluck is passionate about legal education and helping students.

“Working with students to make sure they find the right fit and making sure every applicant is treated individually—that’s what gets me up in the morning,” says Cluck, who adds that she came to Arizona Law in part because of the opportunity to implement forward-thinking new initiatives.

“Dean Miller and the Arizona faculty are innovative and open to new ideas in legal education, in everything from admissions to academic affairs to career opportunities to alumni relations, and I was really drawn to that,” Cluck says.

Cluck’s admissions goals include building classes that meet the needs of the legal market and creating opportunities for “applicants to experience Tucson and Arizona Law wherever they are,” such as offering more online programming.

Outside of the office, Cluck says she is looking forward to enjoying Tucson’s outdoor activities, food, and culture with her son, husband (also an attorney) and Great Dane.
