Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian Contributes $250,000 Gift to "A New Day in Court" Fundraising
Arizona Law's south lobby to be renovated, renamed the Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian Lobby
The all-alumni Tucson firm of Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian has contributed $250,000 to the “A New Day in Court” fundraising initiative in support of University of Arizona Law's Advocacy program.
The $6 million "A New Day in Court" initiative is raising funds to renovate student courtrooms, establish an endowed faculty chair of advocacy and support student experiential learning.
The firm's gift will go toward renovating University of Arizona Law's south lobby, which will be renamed the Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian Lobby. The renovated Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian Lobby will be adjacent to the new Kevin R. Boyle Trial Courtroom and will have a full view of courtroom proceedings thanks to a glass partition between the two spaces. The lobby will also have new flexible study and gathering spaces and enhanced audiovisual capabilities.

Founding partner and 1977 alumnus Ted Schmidt is a member of the A New Day in Court steering committee and is rallying more classmates and peers to join the effort.
"Our firm wants to ensure that the University of Arizona remains an elite institution that is equipped to train the next generation of successful trial attorneys," said Schmidt. "We envision the future Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian Lobby to be a place where Arizona Law students gather in study groups, watch their classmates perform in court sessions, and engage in those invigorating discussions that make law school so interesting."
Schmidt, Sethi & Akmajian was established in 1995, and the firm's lawyers have a combined experience of more than 120 years during which each partner has won multi-million dollar verdicts. All four partners, Ted Schmidt ('77), Matt Schmidt ('10), Dev Sethi ('97) and Peter Akmajian ('84), are graduates of the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law.
