Giving Day 2022: LawCat Community Spreads Love, Supports Next Generation of Leaders and Lawyers
This February 14, University of Arizona Law felt the love from the LawCat community during Giving Day, a 24-hour fundraising effort in support of students and the university. Thanks to the generosity of 57 donors, which included alumni, faculty, staff, students, and parents, over $40,000 was raised to support A New Day in Court, Justice Advocates Coalition Fellowship Program, the Dean’s Innovation Fund and student scholarships.
The University of Arizona received more than 2,700 gifts during Giving Day, totaling more than $3.7 million towards students, scholarships, and programs.
"We were thrilled to see all of the participation across campus during Giving Day this year,” said Arizona Law's senior director of development Megan O'Leary. “A special thank you to Anna Maria Chávez (’94), Dean Marc Miller and Dr. Christina Cutshaw, and Melody Robidoux (’83) for their leadership in making challenge gifts to encourage giving to college priorities.”
Arizona Law’s Giving Day challenges included Arizona Law alumna Anna Maria Chávez challenging her fellow classmates and all others to give to student scholarships. Chávez matched gifts up to $2,500. The Melody S. Robidoux Foundation Fund matched all gifts made to support the Justice Advocates Coalition, up to $6,000. Dean Marc Miller generously matched all gifts to the A New Day in Court campaign up to $1,000.
All three challenges were successfully met.
“We are excited about this new university tradition and thank everyone for their participation. It is clear that Wildcats #BearDownGiveBack," said O’Leary.
