Barak Orbach
Barak Orbach is the Robert H. Mundheim Professor of Law & Business at the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law, where he also serves as the founding director of the Business Law Program. He is a Special Advisor to Arizona International, the University of Arizona’s global affairs division, and a member of the University’s Campus Safety Commission.
Orbach is internationally recognized as a leading expert in antitrust, corporate governance, and regulation. He occasionally advises government agencies, corporations, boards of directors, investors, and trade associations on high-stakes issues in these areas.
Orbach is also a leading authority on dynamic content technologies, including motion pictures, filmed entertainment, theatrical exhibitions, streaming services, digital platforms, digital ecosystems, and artificial intelligence. His academic work in these fields has examined technological disruptions, business strategies, industry practices, and competition. Insights from his research have influenced antitrust analysis and industry practices in these sectors. In 2024, Orbach was awarded the Mallen Award for his “lifetime published scholarly contributions to motion picture industry studies.”
Orbach is a fellow of the American College of Governance Counsel, the Thurman Arnold Project at Yale, the Salzburg Global Seminar, and the American Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the American Law Institute, serves on the advisory board of the American Antitrust Institute, and is a member of Emmanuel College at the University of Cambridge, where he served as a Derek Brewer Visiting Fellow.
He holds undergraduate degrees in law and economics from Tel Aviv University, as well as an LL.M. and S.J.D. degrees from Harvard Law School. His research and insights have been featured in numerous media outlets, including The Atlantic, Bloomberg, Axios, Businessweek, Die Welt, Financial Times, Forbes, Fortune, The Globe and Mail, Law360, NPR, The New York Times, Slate, PBS, Sports Illustrated, Time, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.
