Suzanne M. Rabe
Suzanne Rabe was the Director of Legal Writing and a Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law. She is admitted to practice in both Arizona and California. A graduate of both Arizona State University (B.A. 1976) and the University of Arizona (J.D. 1979), Professor Rabe served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas Tang on the Ninth Circuit.
Professor Rabe taught legal writing at Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, during the 1980-81 academic year. In 1981, she joined the staff of Southern Arizona Legal Aid, where she remained for six years, specializing in immigration, refugee, and civil rights law.
Since 1987, Professor Rabe has taught Legal Writing, Advanced Legal Writing, and other courses at the University of Arizona. She has served as the Director of Legal Writing since 2000. She is a leader in the legal writing field. In recognition of her leadership, she was awarded in 2011 the Rocky Mountain Award "for contributions beyond measure to the Rocky Mountain legal writing community." She serves on the board of directors of the Legal Writing Institute, and she speaks nationally and internationally on a variety of legal writing topics.
