The University of Arizona Innocence Project is currently accepting applications for clients seeking free legal assistance. Please read the following eligibility requirements and application instructions carefully.
Eligibility
In order for a case to be considered by the University of Arizona Innocence Project, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- You have been convicted of a crime in Arizona.
- You are actually innocent of the crime of conviction.
- Your direct appeal has been denied and your conviction is final.
We are unable to assist with the following:
- Lawsuits about prison conditions
- Sentence reductions
- Legal research, including providing copies of case law
Application
If you meet the eligibility requirements above, please complete the application materials and return them to the address below.
We will review your submission and make a decision as to whether or not we can assist you. Applications for assistance take a significant amount of time to review thoroughly. We thank you in advance for your patience.
Please only send us your completed application. We will notify you if we need any additional documents. Please do not send accompanying documents at this time unless otherwise requested. We cannot guarantee that any documents that are sent to us will be returned.
Please understand that the University of Arizona Innocence Project does not represent anyone until we enter into a formal written agreement to do so. We cannot agree to file anything on an applicant’s behalf or take action on a case before the evaluation process is complete.
